1. Can I buy it now?
Yes, you can purchase directly from our website. Click on the
"Purchase" link at the top of this page.
2. What is the
operating range of the laser unit?
The laser receiver will pick up a signal from the rotating laser
unit up to a diameter of 500 metres.
3. Are the laser
units waterproof?
The Laser unit is rated at IP64, which is dustproof and splashproof.
They are designed to withstand a shower of rain but not full immersion
in water. To give this some perspective, a weatherproof external
power point is rated at IP53, which is slightly less dustproof
and slightly less waterproof than the laser unit.
4. Does the rechargeable
unit contain replaceable batteries?
The rotating laser unit is rechargeable and can be plugged directly
into a power point via the included transformer kit. The unit
contains rechargeable AA batteries which can be interchanged with
'off-the-shelf" AA batteries if required. The supplied batteries
remain inside the unit for charging.
5. How
long does it take to charge the rotating laser unit?
A full charge takes 7 hours. Recharging takes less time if there
remains residual charge in the battery. An LED turns from red
to green to indicate when the unit if fully charged.
6. What is
the expected life of the batteries?
The batteries can be recharged approximately 500 times. The specification
for identical replacement batteries is: Ni-MH AA2100mAh 1.2V.
7. Are batteries
included?
Yes, all batteries for rotating laser, receiver and remote control
are included.
8. How long
can I use the unit before it needs recharging?
The rotating laser unit can run continuously for up to 20 hours.
A warning indicator will appear when the battery is low.
9. Is there a recommended
running time for the unit? Does it need to be rested?
No, it can be run continuously.
10. Are the
laser glasses for eye protection?
No, the glasses are used to better see the projected line of
the laser beam. They are best suited if working indoors in a bright
light situation to be able to distinguish the horizontal line
on wall surfaces. The laser diode itself has a wavelength of 635nm
which is safe for incidental eye exposure.
11. How accurate
is the laser level?
This requires a lengthy explanation so click
here to find out.
12. Does the laser unit
scan vertically?
The FRE-202 is a horizontal scanning
unit only. The FRE-201 scans both horizontally
and vertically.
